Biography

Dr. Stephen Hammer serves as President of Mesacosa LLC, an energy and environmental policy research and business development firm based in NYC. With 18 years of experience in the environmental field, Dr. Hammer has provided research, regulatory, technical and project management support to several start-up firms, President George H.W. BushÂ’s Commission on Environmental Quality, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. National Park Service, the City of New York, leading international NGOs, and hundreds of small and medium-sized businesses around the U.S. and the Caribbean.

Dr. HammerÂ’s research interests focus on urban energy planning, urban sustainability, renewable energy/clean energy, and waste policy issues. Dr. Hammer holds a PhD in Urban Planning from the London School of Economics, a MPP from Harvard UniversityÂ’s Kennedy School of Government, and a BS in Environmental Studies from the University of California at Davis.
