Biography

Val Washington is Deputy Commissioner of the NY State Department of Environmental Conservation addressing the issues of brownfields, recycling, investigating and cleaning up hazardous waste, development of non-renewable energy, and management of the State’s mineral resources. Prior, Val Washington served as Senior Policy Analyst for New Partners in Community Revitalization, Inc., a not-for-profit organization that assists community organizations in neighborhood revitalization efforts. She has also served as Executive Director for Environmental Advocates of New York and held the titles of Assistant Attorney General and Deputy Bureau Chief for the Environmental Protection Bureau with the State Department of Law for more than ten years.
