Office of Communications

The Office of Communications conveys significant and newsworthy information about Pratt Institute to both external and internal audiences, and is responsible for increasing the visibility of Pratt Institute as one of the world's premier colleges of art, design, liberal arts and sciences, architecture, and library and information science through consistent and creative branding, strategic marketing, compelling publications, and media relations efforts.

The Office includes media relations (traditional and social), photography/video, and editorial, design, and production staff who promote Pratt Institute's events, exhibitions, academic programs, and the achievements of its faculty, students, and staff through the production of award-winning publications, the creation of content on various social media outlets, and through internal and external outreach to the Pratt community and local, national, and international media outlets.

The Office handles the management of all photography, videography, design, and editorial for the Institute's publications and for its media relations campaigns. Media relations staff work with reporters and producers from around the world to enhance Pratt's presence in various print, broadcast, and Internet media outlets.

Pratt Institute was ranked #6 in the country for the quantity and quality of its coverage in global print and electronic media, on the Internet, throughout the blogosphere, and in social media outlets, according to the Global Language Monitor's (GLM) TrendTopper MediaBuzz^TM Fall 2011 Rankings. This year, Pratt was ranked # 11 among all colleges in the country compared to # 14 in 2010 and # 28 in 2009. Pratt has also been ranked # 1 for media coverage among colleges of art and design nationwide for the second year in a row.
