2011 Teaching with Technology Summer Institute
The 2011 Teaching with Technology Summer Institute at Pratt is an annual gathering of faculty from various departments interested in learning about current and new technologies to support and enhance teaching and learning in the classroom.
Objective
The objective of the 2011 Summer Institute is to provide spaces for faculty to develop and strengthen basic skills in the use of applications commonly used in education and get an introduction to basic strategies and techniques to effectively integrate technology into teaching.
The Event
The Summer Institute is a three-day event featuring workshops conducted by experienced trainers in a collegial environment. Sessions are limited to 15 participants and are open to Pratt faculty and staff. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions, interact and manipulate technology and engage in discussion related to the instructional or workplace uses of these technologies. Faculty will also be able share experience with colleagues over free lunch and snack during workshop break times.

Focal Areas
The workshops are organized around three focal areas:
1. Technology Tools
2. Technology Integration
3. Technology Interaction
Technology Tools
Workshops in this area focus on the basic skills required to use common software applications for content presentation, image and video editing, webdesign, and document design.
Technology Integration
These workshops offer strategies to help faculty web enhance their courses with online resources such as the Learning Management System, blogs, wikis and more.
Technology Interaction
In these workshops faculty members have a chance to view demos and interact with emerging e-learning technologies.
Schedule
The Summer Institute will be held May 24th through May 26th at Pratt’s Brooklyn Campus. Participants will be able to attend either morning workshops between 10 AM and 12 PM or afternoon sessions between 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM.
