Energy Management

The Institutes energy management program is managed by the Facilities Department. The major emphasis of the energy management program is to construct, maintain and operate energy systems in the most efficient manner complying with building health and safety codes. The Institute has established standards for temperature and lighting levels. All new construction and renovation projects are evaluated for energy efficiency. limited funding is made available each year financed through energy savings for cost effective energy conservation projects. Pratt utilizes State and Federal programs to offset cost for energy effective programs.

Building occupants are encouraged to participate in energy savings by turning off lights when rooms are unoccupied or natural light is adequate, by requesting the installation of free motion sensors in offices by calling 636-3579, and by helping with efforts to minimize heating and cooling energy use by setting thermostats in the broad “comfort’ range of 68SF (winter) to 75F (summer) during occupied periods the Facilities Management service desk should be notified if temperatures are outside of these limits and an adjustment is desired.
